Every Repeated Wordle Word So Far: The Complete List (Updated Daily)
Does Wordle repeat words? Yes. As of February 2, 2026, The New York Times officially began reintroducing previously used answers into the daily rotation. While new words will still debut, past solutions can now reappear at any time.
I maintain a daily-updated log of every Wordle answer in chronological order. Because of this new rule change, I’ve created this dedicated archive of every repeated Wordle word so far.
Below, you’ll find each recurring word listed with its original appearance date and its most recent repeat date.

The first-ever Wordle repeat occurred on February 2, 2026 (Groundhog Day), with the very first Wordle word, CIGAR.
Wondered why words were reappearing. They're trying to extend the life of the puzzle that was designed to have a limited run.

DeleteI’m glad they are doing this. It can keep the game going forever. It’s not really going to ruin the game and it will make it more challenging for the folks who use the previously used word lists to eliminate guesses. Not only that but if they never repeated words, eventually the pool of available answers will be diminishingly small

DeleteHello there! Says I. And actually, plenty of other folks that were put off by NYT's decision to repeat words.
DeleteWhat was charming about that, at least to me, was that with each word, we were nearing an end. In that way, each word meant something. There were words that were streak-breakers, but at least we knew that we wouldn’t encounter them again. There was a sense of anticipation for what the last word would be. Wordle had the potential to move hundreds of thousands of people. Imagine waking up one day to the final Wordle word. It would be quite something for many people to get that final “Congratulations!” screen after over 6 years of having Wordle as a daily ritual.
It's totally OK to not feel the same way, but there is not reason to dismiss the feelings of others.

DeleteUp until Sandy, all repeats were within the Wordle's first year. Was hoping they only added year one back into pool, but guess it's the whole lot - darn, all my nemesis words ending in ER are back in play.

DeleteI was hoping they would do another Wordle maybe with six letter words? Is there some reason that’s not possible?
ReplyDeleteI don't see why it would't be possible, especially with New York Times' resources! With a fast search, I found that there are about 20k 6 letter words. Of course a big portion of them is gibberish, such as "jojoba", "qajaqs", etc. but the same applies to 5 letter words as well.

DeleteHi this is Ann again. I didn't get the hang of setting my name in this, my first post. I can't get the "Google account" thing to work so far. I have now looked at my January 28, 2025 screenshot of my game (solved in 3). My second guess was DEMUR and I accidentally name the file for that. I've fixed it now. Thanks.

DeleteLet’s say the NYT had not started reusing words. Would that mean, in the closing weeks of the game, that thousands of Wordle players who track used words would start guessing the answer in one word? As the pool of available words diminished would the chance of guessing correctly, in one, go up? Would the last day of the game as originally established by the NYT then have a super high percentage of “solves in one?”

ReplyDeleteHello there! For some reason the 1st Wordle is the Wordle #0. We have had 1855 Wordle's so far, and we are on Wordle #1854 as of July 17 2026.
DeleteToday, July 29 2026, for those who cannot remember a list of a 1000 words and has to look up a list when on the last guess cause might-as-well try to guess something new, the solution is wrongfully of the used word lists

DeleteThere were a 7 instances in 2022 where there were two different Wordle answers on the same day: #241 on Feb 15 (AROMA & AGORA); #284 on March 30 (STOVE & HARRY); #300 on April 15, 2022 (SHAME & SLAVE); #313 on March 28 (ZESTY & HASTY); and #314 on March 29 (TRASH & FELLA); #324 on May 9 (SHINE & FETUS); #325 on May 10 (GECKO & BUTCH) . HASTY was repeated on March 9, 2026 (#1724).

DeleteI can't find documentation for zesty and hasty (##313) on April 28, 2022 (I mistakenly put March 28, 2022 in my original comment) but I have a spreadsheet with all the answers from day "zero" in alpha order & chronological order and I have zesty/hasty for that day!
