Your Wordle data base was invaluable for me to correct my own. While doing so I found that you are missing the word “onion”.
ReplyDeleteHello, thank you for your kind words. I searched for ONION on all my Wordle posts, and I could find it on all of them. Do you have any link that I could check?
DeleteYour list today, which was supposed to exclude today's wordle, actually did include it. SQUAD so I didnt try it and lost my streak. I also noted that there were a few words in the SQ's that were out of alphabetical order. Maybe some kind of glitch?😮
ReplyDeleteOn further review, I see that it was used a second time in # 1704. That's a dirty trick!
DeleteHello there! Indeed the word had been played before, so unfortunately there is no way to avoid this. I am planning on creating a new page that will show the already used Wordles. I have also fixed the word that was out of order!
DeleteI noticed that wordle number 1329, word swath, has the wrong date. It was on February 7, 2025. It is correct in the JavaScript comments on your web page https://www.stadafa.com/2021/09/every-wordle-world-so-far-excluding.html but seems to be incorrect in the data in https://tohippo.com/wp-json/wordle/v1/data. This also makes the web site print the wrong date for swath.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the data science work!
Hello there! Thank you for letting me know! This should be fixed by tomorrow, when the new wordle is posted!
DeleteI have been tracking how well I do compared with the combined talent of those doing Wordle. My own average is okay, 3.57 over the years I have been doing Wordle. When I track when everybody has selected the correct word, the average is 2.56. I think this is the value of crowd sourcing.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, NY Times publishes the average score for paid volunteers. Their average is considerably worse, 4.6. (Average of average is not really a reliable calculation, but I can't do any better without published data). This makes me wonder if the Internet cheats on Wordle. Or, NY Times needs to hire better Wordle players.
Hello Doug! Do you play the normal or the hard mode? We should also take into account the demographics of their test panel. Is it representative of the real world, or is it a low socio-economic group who simply supplement their income by taking part in this panel.
